Why Solar Panels?

People have always needed energy to live. Energy has grown our food, lit our fires, and powered our bodies for thousands of years. It’s always been this way, and it will probably always be so. There are many ways to harness energy but unfortunately the fossil fuels that light our homes aren’t going to be with us forever. Fortunately, we’re not running out of options. And we can turn to energy sources that were there all along: the sun, wind, and water. So why didn’t we make this decision years ago? Economics. Fossils fueled the industrial age. We became used to the cheap, available oil to keep things moving towards a brighter future. Well, the future is here — and the cheap fuels have nearly run out. Prices are going to shoot up, and there is going to be a huge rush for the equipment that uses the sun’s energy and other renewable energy sources. Solar power really is an option! That’s good news because now solar panels have many applications. They have long been used in situations where electrical power from the grid is unavailable, e.g. in remote area power systems, Earth-orbiting satellites or just in pocket calculators. Solar electric panels are just one of the many smart options.

Solar Panels

These days, solar panels are pretty practical, especially for remote homes. Until solar power came along, people who wanted to live in remote areas frequently had to pay large fees to have a power cable run to their house. Now, a remote home can be virtually self-sufficient with solar power. Even in areas where power lines are nearby, solar may be a viable alternative to being connected to a power company. An average home has more than enough roof area to produce enough solar electricity to supply all of its power needs. With an inverter, which converts DC (direct current) power from the solar cells to AC (alternating current), which is what most home appliances run on, a solar home can look and operate very much like a home that is connected to a power line.

Solar hot water

Solar heating systems are generally composed of solar thermal collectors, a system to collect the suns heat from the collector to its point of usage, and a reservoir or tank for heat storage and subsequent use. The systems may be used to heat domestic hot water, swimming pool water, or for space heating. The heat can also be used for industrial applications or as an energy input for other uses such as cooling equipment. Solar water heaters are a great way to save money over a period of time. The cost will repay in a few years, and then it is free hot water! There is a few products for sale in hot water category, Solar Water Heaters!

So let’s be a part of future progress!
